‘Design For Manufacture – £60k house competition’ organised by English Partnerships. To provide two and three bed family housing and some flat accommodation. Standard house type to meet affordability criteria.
The housing solution was designed for accent Housing association and Construction Partner Carillion. The concept uses off site panelised construction, and is both affordable and highly sustainable. The housing concept is also designed to be adaptable over time to provide increased choice of accommodation, and able to respond to changing demographics and needs.
The housing is organised into clusters which provide continuous street frontages, with private space to the ear. Secure car parking space is located within each cluster of housing, accessed from the street. This limits the amount of on street car parking.
Elevations adopt an informal, contemporary approach with brick as the predominant facing material. Large windows provide good levels of natural light. Awards: Competition finalist – exhibited at Design Museum, London.
