Duresme Court, Durham
The student accommodation scheme consists of 273 studio bedrooms located in Neville's Cross, just west of Durham city centre. This redevelopment of an industrial site presents an opportunity to enhance the urban landscape, especially along this key gateway to the city. The design features various en-suite studio rooms arranged in different configurations throughout the site and across multiple building types.
Along the street elevation, the rooms are organised around common corridors, forming flats for the residents. Additionally, some rooms are clustered into townhouses, creating distinct households. The proposed accommodation emphasises sustainability, with a focus on significantly reduced energy and water consumption.
This initiative continues the trend of previous student accommodation projects that have achieved BREEAM 'outstanding' ratings, underscoring a commitment to environmentally responsible design in this development.
