Undercliffe, Bradford

An urban residential scheme completed in 2009 of six units, part of the ‘Accent Home’ timber frame house concept developed for the ODPM 60K house competition, built in Undercliffe, Bradford.

The site contains a number of different building types (1 bed flat to 4 bed town house), but all of which have the same footprint.

The Accent Home housing concept developed by GWP was designed as sustainable from the outset, bringing together sound economic practice, awareness of social issues and environmental responsibility.  Construction materials are specified with regard to providing healthy internal environments, using benign, non toxic products. Buildings contain numerous sustainable elements and alternate source heating systems (which are being monitored for effectiveness and performance).

The technical specification adopts North American and Scandinavian best practice in respect of achieving a highly insulated, airtight building envelope, designed to achieve BREEAM Ecohomes ‘Excellent’ and Code for Sustainable Homes level 4 ratings.
