Rialto House Award Winner!

We are delighted to announce that Rialto House in York has won the Multi-Residential Award at the York Design Awards 2026.

The 275-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme, located on the site of the former Mecca Bingo just outside York’s historic city walls, has transformed the site through a design that responds sensitively to its heritage setting. Featuring distinctive gable and chimney references, landscaped courtyards and high-quality communal spaces, Rialto House creates a contemporary residential environment for students.

Delivered by GMI Construction on behalf of Olympian Homes, in partnership with Cain International, and operated by Fusion Students, the scheme opened for the 2025 academic year, achieving Secure by Design Gold certification and BREEAM Very Good accreditation.
