Swansea Palace Theatre in the News
Our refurbishment of the historic Palace Theatre in Swansea has rightfully garnered attention on ITV and BBC news. This Grade II listed venue has been vacant since 2006 and was listed on The Theatres Trust risk register due to its declining condition.
Swansea Council took proactive steps to partially fund essential repairs in 2016 and purchased the theatre in 2020 with a clear vision to convert it into office space. The Theatres Trust has acknowledged that while their ideal scenario would be to see the building used for live performances, the current demand in the city does not support such an endeavour. They recognise that transforming the theatre into functional space is a far better outcome than allowing it to deteriorate further.
Funding for this important project comes from the European Regional Development Fund, the Welsh government, and Swansea Council. Link here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-64568449
