Ashley Davies
Ashley is a Chartered Architect and an RIBA-accredited Specialist Conservation Architect, with over 30 years’ experience, who has designed, acquired funding for, specified and delivered dozens of heritage-led projects, involving grade I, II* & II listed buildings and Scheduled Monuments. This has involved their careful and sensitive repair, restoration, adaptation and, in some cases, intervention.
Some have involved their adaptation to new, sustainable uses, sometimes with contemporary insertions, however all have involved a considerable focus on the sensitive conservation, repair and restoration of the existing fabric. On many of these projects, Ashley also undertook historic and architectural appraisals and condition surveys, leading to the preparation of Heritage Assessments, Heritage Impact Statements, Historic Building Recordings, Conservation Plans, Management and Maintenance Plans and Detailed Condition Appraisals.
Ashley is a member of the RIBA Conservation Register National Steering Group; is a Supporter of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation; has twice been the conservation specialist on the RIBA Regional Architecture awards panel; has lectured in ‘Conservation Principles’ at University; has presented at conferences on the theme of building conservation; and has appeared on a few television programmes talking about his passion for restoring historic buildings. Ashley is driven by the highest standards of building conservation, high quality design and a client-focussed service. A strong advocate of a proactive approach to managing projects, he has trained as an Architect, a Conservation Architect and a Project Manager, believing that this gives him a fuller understanding of what it takes to complete projects of quality to programme and to budget.
