This new community hub will bring together council and third party services from across Swansea under one roof. The new home will be within a former department store that will be refurbished and repurposed to create a flexible community hub in the heart of the city centre, providing a range of services to the city. It will also act as a continuation of the wider city regeneration being driven by City and County Swansea Council.
The hub will house a reception area, contact centre and revenue & benefits contact centre, modern library, family history centre and local studies area, archive research room; archive storage; Swansea University South Wales Miner’s Library, employability hub; cashier’s provision, housing options; includes housing advice and homelessness prevention, life-long learning centre, community and activity space, public cafe with external seating areas.
Externally the façade will be reclad with an illuminated polycarbonate skin and living walls to act a focal point within the city centre, while also being manifestation of the Councils green strategies.
